Georgie was serialised in Shogakukan’s Shōjo Comic manga magazine from 1982 to 1984. Fairbell published it in print and the final volume was shipped in 2014.
It received a 45-episode anime adaptation, titled Lady Georgie, in 1983 by Tokyo Movie Shinsa. Hiroshi Kaneko, Senhito Asakura, and Noboru Shiroyama wrote the anime's scripts while Junzaburo Takahata was the art director. Takeo Watanabe composed the music.
The story of Georgie revolves around the titular character Georgie, a lively girl from Australia. Growing up, she is loved by her father and two brothers, Arthur and Abel. After her father's passing, her mother seems to resent her, and blames her for his death. Georgie also has blonde hair while all her other family members are brunette. One day, her mother reveals that Georgie is actually adopted and her actual parents are British. With the help of Abel and Arthur, Georgie goes to London to find her family, as well as her lost lover Lowell, who also moved to the same city.
