Shō 3 Ashibe QQ Goma-chan short anime details

The short trailer for the upcoming anime features the manga’s protagonist Ashibe Ashiya, and his pet seal Goma-chan. The absurdist comedy, slice-of-life anime will be both adorable and funny, perfect for a ‘short’ break from everyday life.

Kōtarō Yamawaki directs the anime and also designs the characters at DLE. Kyōhei Matsuno is composing the music with Kazuki Kuwahara as the sound director. Mayu Murayama is the art director while Ayumi Kanno is the series producer.

The original author Hiromi Morishita drew an illustration to celebrate the anime adaptation.

The first manga of this series, titled Shōnen Ashibe, ran from 1988 to 1994 in the Weekly Young Jump magazine and detailed the daily life of elementary school student Ashibe Ashiya, his pet Goma-chan, and their friends and family. It received an anime adaptation in 1991, which released its second season in 1992.

A second manga series by Morishita, titled ComaGoma, depicting Ashiya’s life as a second grader, came out in 2000 and ran until 2004. The third manga series, titled Shō 3 Ashibe QQ Goma-chan, began in 2020, and will be getting its anime next year. This manga depicts Ashiya’s life as a third-grader.
