Shingo Yamashita’s new Pokemon short anime about Wartortle is now streaming

Studio Colorido and Studio Chromato produced the new anime. 

A new POKÉTOON short anime was released on The Pokémon Company YouTube channel on Wednesday, 12 August, 2026. Titled “Kameil to Natsu no Tsuzuku” (Wartortle and the Ongoing Summer), it is directed by Shingo Yamashita.

What is the new POKÉTOON short about?

The new anime short centres around a boy named Rikuto. While visiting his grandmother on an island during Summer, Rikuto meets a Wartortle. The 13-minute long episode can now be watched on YouTube.

Shingo Yamashita directed the short at Studio Colorido and Studio Chromato. Riiki Miura was the character designer and chief animation director. Aya Satsuki wrote the script for the episode while Kyosuke Kagawa composed the music. 

The cast of the anime short includes:

  • Sayaka Senbongi as Rikuto
  • Tasuku Hatanaka as Gaku
  • Akiko Hiramatsu as Shuri
  • Kana Hanazawa as Wartortle (Kameil)
  • Natsumi Haruse as Leafeon
  • Michiyo Murase as Bellsprout (Madatsubomi) 

Unfortunately, the short anime does not have English subtitles yet.
