Scooby and Shaggy are heading to Japan!

Tubi TV has revealed that it has licensed “Yokoso Scooby-Doo!”, a brand new anime entry in the long-running Scooby-Doo franchise. The news was revealed through Animation Magazine and Variety.

The anime is being produced by Warner Bros. Animation, with OLM handling animation production.

Who is working on the Scooby-Doo anime?

Itsuro Kawasaki, who is known for directing anime titles like Baban Baban Ban Vampire, The Foolish Angel Dances with the Devil, Magical Girl Ore, and (The) Yakuza's Guide to Babysitting is directing the anime. Television writer Francisco Paredes is serving as co-producer, as well as Head Writer.

Meanwhile, longtime Scooby-Doo voice actors Frank Welker and Matthew Lillard will reprise their roles as Scooby-Doo and Shaggy respectively. “Yokoso Scooby-Doo!” will be the first-ever anime for the long-time franchise. 

When is “Yokoso Scooby-Doo!” coming out?

An exact premiere date or window is yet to be confirmed, however, IMDb lists the anime as premiering in 2027. 

What is “Yokoso Scooby-Doo!” about?

According to Tubi TV, the anime follows Scooby-Doo and Shaggy as they travel to Japan for a foodie adventure.

The official synopsis is: 

While visiting Japan on the ultimate foodie adventure, Scooby-Doo and Shaggy unwittingly unleash hundreds of mythical monsters that are causing trouble across the country. With the help of Scooby’s uncle, Daisuke-Doo, along with new friends — magical girl Yume and gadget whiz Takumi — the group embarks on an all-new mystery filled with monster chasing and fun chaos.
