It has been announced that Aito Aoyagi’s novel series Akazukin, Tabi no Tochū de Shitai to Deau (Little Red Riding Hood Encounters a Dead Body During Her Journey) is getting an anime adaptation titled “Red Riding Hood: A Detective Story”. The new trailer revealed that the series will debut in 2027. The anime’s website has also unveiled the main cast and staff members.

The anime is based on Aito Aoyagi’s novel series, which began publication by Futabasha in 2020. Kanoka Tana began the manga adaptation in 2023 in Futabasha's Monthly Action magazine. In 2024, the manga moved to the Web Comic Action website and ended in 2025.
The novel series received a live-action movie adaptation titled Once Upon a Crime on Netflix in 2023.
