The time-travel anime is based on Haruka Kawachi’s manga.
Haruka Kawachi’s time travelling romance manga “Rainy Day Serenade” (Namidaame to Serenāde), is being adapted into an anime. As per the announcement by the official website of the anime and the X (formerly Twitter) account of Kodansha’s Kiss magazine, the anime will premiere in 2027.

The official X account of Kiss magazine announced the news with a celebratory illustration by the manga author Haruka Kawachi. Other than the 2027 release window, no other details about the series have been revealed as of yet.
Kawachi’s manga began serialisation in Kodansha’s Kiss manga back in November 2014 and ended in November 2025. The 14th and final tankōbon volume of the manga was shipped on Friday, 13 February 2026. Kodansha USA Publishing has licensed the manga for an English release, and will be shipping the series in two-in-one omnibus volumes starting in Fall 2026. Kodansha USA describes the manga’s story as:
On rainy days, Hina has dreams about her younger self playing with a mysterious boy in a garden she’s never seen before—until, by chance, she stumbles upon the place. There’s a young man there, Takaaki, who mistakes Hina for his fiancée Hinako. He whisks her back to what he thinks is her home, where Hina’s doppelganger is waiting, and Hina realizes this isn’t the Tokyo she left behind but Japan in the year 1907! Is this all a dream or something much stranger?
Kawachi’s other recent manga Musashino Rondo began serialising in Shodensha’s Feel Young magazine in 2020. It was adapted into a live-action series in April 2025. The author’s Natsuyuki Rendezvous manga ended in 2012, and also has an anime adaptation. Kawachi also launched a manga titled Request o Yoroshiku in 2014 in Feel Young magazine, and it ended in 2019.
