What do we know about the Promise Me the Spotlight anime so far?

Unfortunately, other than the anime adaptation confirmation and new visual, no other details about the project like its cast, staff, or release date, have been revealed so far.

The official account of the manga also released a short PV with the manga panels to celebrate the anime adaptation.

Jun Wakatsuki also drew a celebratory illustration with a comment which states (machine translated):

Guess what?! My manga “Promise Me the Spotlight”  is going to be made into an anime! I'm so surprised! It really feels like a dream! It was my first serialized work, and I was drawing it by trial and error, not knowing anything, so when my editor told me that it might be made into an anime, I was happy, but honestly, I was more anxious. But the reliable anime production staff blew away all those anxieties. They really thought about what kind of characters Koichi and Mizuki are, and they did a wonderful job with the script and character designs. Thank you so much!! I can't wait to see Zukki singing and dancing and Koichi waving a penlight!

The sixth volume of the manga will be released on 9 July, 2026.

What is Promise Me the Spotlight about?

The manga began serialising in Kodansha’s Shōnen Magazine Edge in 2022. In 2024, it was moved to the Magazine Pocket web service. Kodansha’s KManga website publishes the series in English and describes the story as:

“If you can really make me the Center...then we can get married.” Meet Mizuki Natsuno, the least popular member of the nationally acclaimed idol group, Melty Strawberry. She has an eternal fan in Koichi Okuta, who is always pouring heart and soul into supporting her. Normally, a fan would never get to interact with their idol beyond the stage. But one thing led to another, and Koichi now finds himself living together with Mizuki in his own house. He vows to make her the new Center of Melty Strawberry, sparking an unconventional tag-team between a devoted fan and his idol. Together, they attempt to elevate Mizuki's career from obscurity to stardom!
