CloverWorks animates the new film.
The Pokémon franchise is getting a new anime movie after six years. The new film, titled “Pokémon: Wild Card”, is set to premiere in 2027. A new trailer has been released for the upcoming project.

What do we know about Pokémon: Wild Card so far?
The new trailer shows the ghost Pokémon Mimikyu in its Pikachu disguise, as well as a human Pokémon card player, who is the film’s protagonist. The anime’s official website describes the story as:
Pokémon: Wild Card tells the exciting story of a Pokémon TCG player and his partner Mimikyu. When the time comes to put their cards on the table, will they have what it takes to achieve their goals?
Katsuhiko Kitada is directing the movie at studio CloverWorks, with Akemi Hayashi designing the characters. Story Inc. is producing the film.
Pokémon: Wild Card is the 24th movie in the franchise. The previous film was Pokémon the Movie: Secrets of the Jungle (Gekijōban Pocket Monster Koko), which premiered in Japan in December 2020. Netflix began streaming the film in October 2021.
