Ahead of its October 2026 premiere, the adorable “Pan Dorobō” (Bread Thief) anime released a new trailer. The series also unveiled two new voice cast members, additional production staff, and details about the show’s opening theme song. The anime is based on Keiko Shibata’s popular picture book. The series will be released this October.

What do we know about the Pan Dorobō anime so far?
The two new voice actors joining the cast are:
- Aki Toyosaki as Nise Pan Dorobō
- Junichi Suwabe as Panya no Ojisan
Previously, it was announced that Ayaka Asai will voice the titular protagonist Pan Dorobō.
Asai and Suwabe will also perform the anime’s opening theme song ‘Pan Dorobō no Uta’, which has been previewed in the new trailer. Kyary Pamyu Pamyu performs the anime’s ending theme song ‘Pan Dorobō’.
Takahiko Kyōgoku directs the anime at Shinei Animation with Chie Yamashiro serving as the assistant director. Mako Miyako designs the characters while Mariko Mochizuki pens the scripts.

What is Pan Dorobō about?
Keiko Shibata published the first volume of the Pan Dorobō picture book in April 2020. The seventh book, titled Pan Dorobō to Sweets Ōji (Bread Thief and the Old Sweets Man) shipped on 10 September, 2025. Kadokawa publishes the series.
The story of the beloved children’s picture book series revolves around a mischievous mouse who wears bread slices as a disguise to steal delicious loaves from the bakery.
