The series was previously set to premiere in October 2025.

Is this the season of anime premiere delays? Because after the disappointing postponement of several titles, it was announced that the release date for the Otherworldly Munchkin: Let's Speedrun the Dungeon with Only 1 HP! anime has also been delayed. Unfortunately, it wasn’t announced when the series will finally be making its debut (it has to be 2026 right? right?). Previously, the show was set to air in October 2025.

Otherworldly Munchkin anime announces delay on social media

The official website and social media accounts of the fantasy anime released a statement on 16 September, 2025. It announced that the Otherworldly Munchkin anime, which was supposed to come out in October, has been delayed. The production team made this decision to enhance and improve the quality of the series. The team also apologised to all the fans who have been waiting for the release.

This is not the first time a Fall 2025 anime has been delayed to next year. Previously, shows like Sentenced to Be a Hero, The Invisible Man and His Soon-to-Be Wife, Go For It, Nakamura-kun!, The Barbarian’s Bride, and Witch Hat Atelier have all been postponed to 2026. Unfortunately, most of these delays are to improve the quality of the animation, which does take a lot of work.

The main cast of the Otherworldly Munchkin anime includes:

  • Yukito Kirihara voiced by Kazuki Ura
  • Charlotte R. Brownia voiced by Kana Yuki
  • Lumilia Sherwood voiced by Yui Ishikawa
  • Liverna Dark voiced by Kaori Maeda
  • Sana Kirihara voiced by Hika Tsukishiro
  • Rosinante voiced by Fukushi Ochiai
  • Managarmr voiced by Ayasa Ito
  • Nephilia Curse voiced by Yoko Hikasa
  • Narrator voiced by Anri Katsu

Mamoru Yokota serves as the chief director as Kei Yoshimizu and Naoya Fukushi direct the anime at Durandal. Hiroshi Hosokawa is writing the scripts while Mamoru Yokota and Yui Kato design the characters. Asami Tachibana composes the music. The anime is adapted from the popular manga written by Yu Shimizu and illustrated by Makoto Aogiri. Kodansha publishes the manga in English and describes the story as:

16-year-old Yukito Kirihara lives with his 14-year-old sister Sana, who he treasures more than anyone else. But when an ogre shows up outside of his window looking for Sana (a shocking event in its own right), Yukito leaps to save her—and is killed. He’s offered the promise of reincarnation by a mysterious woman, who gives him a character sheet in a mysterious book. But when Yukito sees Sana in there, too, he sets off to find her, and save them both—even if he only has 1 hp with which to do it!
