The upcoming original anime series “Mebius Dust” has released a preview video for its first episode. It has also been revealed that the show will debut in July 2026. The main cast and opening theme song artist have also been announced.

Who are the main cast members of Mebius Dust?

The three main cast members of the anime are:

  • Yuto Takenaka as Araki (a high school student who lives in a downtown neighbourhood)
  • Nene Hieda as Stella (Araki’s sister and classmate)
  • Haruka Satō as Olga (a childhood friend of Araki and Stella)

Who are the production staff members of Mebius Dust?

Leo Ieiri will be performing the opening theme song ‘Mebius’.

Taro Iwasaki is directing the anime at Doga Kobo, with Yoriko Tomita writing the scripts. Hajime Shinagawa is credited for the original story.

What is Mebius Dust about?

Back in 2019, the winners of the Project Anima contest were announced. Hajime Shinagawa’s story  Mebius Dust, which won the Kids/Game category, was tentatively slated for sometime after 2020. However, it took more than six years to finally come into being.

ASMIK Ace describes the story as (machine translated):

Araki, Stella, and Olga are high school students living in a downtown area.

They play video games, go to the public bath, and go home.

This is the story of their everyday lives… or is there more to it?

The winner for the Science-Fiction/Robot category in August 2018 with Nekotarō Inui's Sakugan Labyrinth Marker (Drilling Labyrinth Marker) novel as the runner-up. Although it didn’t win a grand prize, it was adapted into an anime by Satelight in 2021, titled Sakugan. 

In October 2018, Project Anima announced the winner for its Isekai/Fantasy category, and Yuzuki Akasaka's Mahō Tsukai ni Narenakatta Onna no Ko no Hanashi (The Story of the Girl Who Couldn't Become a Wizard) novel won the grand prize. J.C. Staff adapted it into an anime which aired in October 2024.
