Are all the magical girl anime fans ready for the return of a certified classic banger? The popular manga series Magic Knight Rayearth by CLAMP is getting a brand new anime adaptation. A new key visual of the three main heroines of the story has been released.

Magic Knight Rayearth remake anime details

The new anime was announced back in 2024 with a short teaser trailer to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the original anime. It’s based on the Magic Knight Rayearth manga series by CLAMP, which was published from 1993 to1995. It was adapted into an anime series in 1994, and had 49 episodes. An OVA was released in 1997.

Toshiki Hirano directed the original anime series at YTV and Tokyo Movie Shinsa (now TMS Entertainment). Atsuko Ishida designed the characters. TMS Entertainment will also produce the new anime. Unfortunately, no other cast or staff details about the remake have been revealed yet.

Kodansha publishes the Magic Knight Rayearth manga series in English and describes the story as:

While on a field trip to Tokyo Tower, three teenage girls cross a magical portal and are transported to another world called Cefiro. There they are summoned through the last remaining strength of the Princess Emeraude, who believes the trio will become the magic knights who will save her, as prophesied by legend.
