“New High School! Kimengumi” anime reveals girl-gang ‘Omegumi’ cast

M.A.O has joined the cast as Omegumi leader Jako Amano.

Motei Shinzawa’s gag manga High School! Kimengumi’s latest anime adaptation has revealed even more cast members. The remake anime will air in January 2026 and features a diverse and vast cast of characters. The latest update introduced the school’s girl-gang Omegumi and its members.

Five new voice actors have joined the cast of the gag anime

  • Jako Amano voiced by M.A.O

Jako is the leader of the all girl gang Omegumi. Other members of the group are:

  • Maki Hidari voiced by Kaoru Sakura

  • Desuko Honba voiced by Marie Ōi

Kazuaki Seki directs the remake anime at Seven, with Takashi Nishikawa working as the animation director. Shigeru Murakoshi is handling series composition while Yuka Abe designs the characters. Night Tempo is in charge of in-show song production, and Slow Curve handles the planning and production of the series.

The anime is being adapted from Motoei Shinzawa’s classic gag manga series from the 1980s. The story of the anime focuses on the five members of the Kimen Gumi (Funny Face Club): Rei Ichido, Go Reietsu, Kiyoshi Shusse, Jin Daima, and Dai Monboshi. They all attend the Ichiou High School and have distinct and wildly eccentric personalities. The new transfer student Yui Kawa is intrigued by them and she and her friend Chie Uru start spending time with the group.
