The new Fairy Princess Minky Momo original video anime was originally slated to premiere on 13 November.
The production committee behind the latest Fairy Princess Minky Momo anime, titled Fairy Princess Minky Momo: A Heartfelt Duet for Dreams of Yearning, has announced that the project has now been indefinitely delayed from its original 13 November theatre premiere. The project, an original video anime (OVA), is the first anime for the franchise in 32 years.
Why is the Fairy Princess Minky Momo OVA delayed?
According to the announcement, the reason was “production issues”. No concrete details for its new premiere date has been revealed, although the production committee promised that release schedules will be revealed as soon as they are decided.
The statement in full reads (English translation):
We regret to inform you that the release date for "Fairy Princess Minky Momo: A Heartfelt Duet for Dreams of Yearning" which was scheduled to be released on Friday, November 13, 2026, has been postponed due to production issues.
We sincerely apologize to everyone who was looking forward to the release of the work, as well as to all parties involved, for the great inconvenience and concern we have caused.
Regarding future release schedules, we will announce them as soon as they are decided on our official website and official social media accounts.
Please note that the advance tickets you purchased can be used as is when the film is released after the postponement, so please keep them safe.
We will continue to make adjustments so that we can deliver wonderful works to everyone.

The story of the OVA centres around a girl named Momo, who receives a smartphone as a present on her 12th birthday, and awakens as Minky Momo. She learns of a faraway land named Diginarsa which is filled with hopes and dreams and maintains its existence through dream energy. But the land is now disappearing as humans start to lose their dreams and hope. As a last resort, the land’s king sends his three companions Chamocha, Dettabook, and Pipirupi to Minky Momo for help.
After learning of their plight and awakening her powers, Momo resolves to help Diginarsa. Momo begins collecting dream energy, but a mysterious app suddenly makes an appearance. But Momo realises that the dreams children are talking about on the app are frivolous ones driven by the greed to gain followers and recognition. She begins questioning the depth of everyone’s dreams.
What is Fairy Princess Minky Momo about?
Originally known as Magical Princess Minky Momo, this series is part of a classic magical girl anime franchise created by Ashi Productions. The original anime aired from 1982 to 1983, and also spawned three OVAs which aired between 1985 and 1987. A second series titled Magical Princess Minky Momo: Hold on to Your Dreams aired from 1991 to 1992. A manga titled Miracle Dream Minky Momo began in 2004. The series got its Fairy Princess Minky Momo title when it was released globally in English.
