We have some great news for the Neon Genesis Evangelion fans! It has been announced that a short 13-minute anime movie will be released at the beloved anime’s 30th anniversary celebration event in February 2026.
Neon Genesis Evangelion short film details
The Rebuild of Evangelion was the film series reboot of the original Neon Genesis Evangelion series. Although the movies finished releasing in 2021, it seems like the Evangelion franchise is still alive.
The 13-minute short film will be shown exclusively at the EVANGELION:30+; 30th Anniversary of Evangelion event in Japan, which will take place from 21-23 February. The movie will be screened once per day at the Stage Area during the event. It remains unknown whether it would get a worldwide release later.
The original Neon Genesis Evangelion creator Hideaki Anno is the supervisor and script writer for the upcoming short anime film. Naoyuki Asano directs the project, while Kazuya Tsurumaki, Shinji Higuchi, and Kazuki Todoroki are also listed as supervisors.
