The weird isekai title is set to premiere this April.
It was previously announced that the unconventional isekai anime “Megami ‘Isekai Tensei Nani ni Naritai desu ka’ Ore ‘Yusha no Rokkotsu de’” (Goddess: “What Do You Want to Turn Into When You're Reincarnated in Another World?” Me: “Into a Hero's Rib”) will premiere in April 2026. In the latest update, a new cast member, as well as the opening sequence details, have been shared.
Megami ‘Isekai Tensei Nani ni Naritai desu ka’ Ore ‘Yusha no Rokkotsu de’
The new voice actor joining the massive cast is comedian Takahiro Ogata (from the comedy trio Panther), who will be voicing the hero Joke. Not much else is known about the character as of yet.
Previously announced cast members of the anime include:
- Atsushi Abe as ‘I/Me’
- M.A.O as Goddess
- Daisuke Namikawa as Master Sockeye Salmon
- Toshihiko Seki as Tanaka-san
- Show Hayami as God of Creation
Many other voice actors who will appear in the series have also been revealed, although their roles have not been specified yet. They are: Kana Asumi, Yuka Iguchi, Marina Inoue, Yūji Ueda, Yūma Uchida, Megumi Ogata, Nobuhiko Okamoto, Tomoko Kaneda, Ayako Kawasumi, Ayana Taketatsu, Shigeru Chiba, Miina Tominaga, Kazuya Nakai, Yōko Hikasa, Nobuyuki Hiyama, Yoshikazu Hirano, Minori Fujidera, Maxwell Powers, Rica Matsumoto, Shinichirō Miki, and Ayumu Murase.
The latest update from the anime includes a comedic illustration of the characters ‘I’ and Goddess. The comedian Kukkii! (a.k.a. Kunihiro Kawashima) of manzai comedy duo Yasei Bakudan created the drawing. Kukkii! is also in charge of the opening sequence of the anime.
The newly composed opening theme song of the anime is ‘Tensei Ganbo’, which will be performed by the five-member rock band shukatsuclub.
Yasufumi Soejima is directing the series at Qzil.la and S.o.K. Zipper Sojo is handling series composition while Miki Matsumoto is designing the characters. Kopo is credited for image illustration while Kagiji Kumanomata is in charge of the original animation character designs. Yuta Uraki, Kayo Konishi, Yukio Kondo, Nomi (VSQ sports) and Shunya Watanabe are composing the music.
The unconventional anime is based on Antai’s web novel series of the same name which released its chapters from November 2017 to December 2024. Takarajimasha later published it as a light novel with illustrations by Mebaru.
The story of the series revolves around the protagonist who is simply known as ‘I’. When he reincarnates into another world, he meets the goddess who has the power to grant the reincarnated souls a form in this new world. However, the most popular forms such as the ‘Demon King’ or ‘Hero with Cheat Skills and a Harem’ all have 50,000 years long waiting lists. The protagonist thus decides to live his life as the most bizarre forms, such as the ‘Hero’s rib’, a hermit crab, or a vegetable.
