A short teaser for the sci-fi action anime has been released.

Bandai Namco Filmworks has announced that Manabu Yashiro’s sci-fi manga “Tank Chair” is getting an anime adaptation in Fall 2026. A short trailer for the series has been released, alongside lead staff information. A stunning visual of the protagonist Nagi has also been revealed. No cast details have been announced as of yet.

Tank Chair anime details

Tadahiro ‘Tady’ Yoshihira and Hiroaki Ando are co-directing and writing the anime scripts at Polygon Pictures. Yūki Morimiya designs the characters while Masaru Yokoyama composes the music. Kazuma Teshigahara is handling production design.

The comment from original author Manabu Yashiro reads (machine translated):

I love complex mechanics, bizarre monsters, cluttered cities, and absurd action... And that's exactly what ‘TANK CHAIR’ is. But I always thought, “It'll be so hard to animate, there's no way it'll ever be made into an anime”... But! Polygon Pictures has done it!! Directors Tady and Ando, along with the rest of the staff, have brought the essence of the original work to life with incredible passion and technical skill. Nagi, Shizuka, Radio, Naozumi, Touko, Uzu, Sensei... They're all so cute and cool. Please look forward to ‘TANK CHAIR’ as it wreaks havoc across the screen.

The Tank Chair manga began serialisation on Kodansha’s Magazine Pocket platform in November 2022. Kodansha also publishes the series in English and describes the story as:

Living on Guicheng Island, called “the most dangerous town in the universe,” is no easy task. Genetic doping is common for gangs to gain ultimate power. Shizuka, a young girl, takes on the most dangerous of assassin jobs, but she’s not the one doing the killing. Rather, it’s her brother, Nagi, a strong assassin who took a bullet to protect his sister, leaving him in a comatose state and having to use a wheelchair. However, Shizuka has figured out the key to waking her brother up: he must be faced with murderous intent! Thus begins a violent journey of recovery, battling the most dangerous foes!
