Re:Zero's studio, White Fox, is animating the new fantasy series.
Back in 2023, it was announced that Iris’ popular light novel series “Magical Explorer: Reborn as a Side Character in a Fantasy Dating Sim” is getting an anime adaptation. The production was confirmed in March 2026. In a recently released trailer, the series revealed its October 2026 premiere window.
White Fox, the studio behind the super-popular fantasy series Re:Zero, is animating the Magical Explorer anime.

The cast so far includes:
- Nobunaga Shimazaki as Kosuke Takioto

Kazuki Ohashi directs the anime at studio White Fox, with series composition by Satoko Sekine. Ryosuke Kimiya designs the characters and Kenichiro Suehiro composes the music.
What is Magical Explorer: Reborn as a Side Character in a Fantasy Dating Sim about?
The original light novel series by Iris began serialising on the Shōsetsuka ni Narō website in February 2018. In November 2019, Kadokawa Shoten began publishing the series in a novel format with illustrations by Noboru Kannatsuki. A manga adaptation by Yukari Higa has been serialised in the Young Ace Up website since August 2020. Noboru
