But how can they take down the terrorists without revealing their true nature?
In the previous chapter of the Spy x Family manga, we see Loid and Yor go to the ‘Five Year Love Plan’ live telecast on a date. Yuri is also there to keep an eye on his sister and brother-in-law. But things go awry when some terrorists take over the broadcast room and take people hostage. Can Loid, Yor, and Yuri actually try to take them down without revealing their hidden identities to each other? Or will the terrorists prevail?

The terrorists point guns at the heads of the audience and crew members. When the guest performer asks if this is part of the script, one of them shoots a sofa to show that the guns are indeed real. They assure everyone that they’re not trying to hurt them, but only take over the broadcast. The terrorists also warn government officials not to turn off the broadcast or cut off electricity, because then they’ll start killing the civilians. The leader of the terrorists hands a list to the show’s producer, and asks him to get the people mentioned in the list in the studio within an hour.
Yuri starts thinking about how they seem to know how the government handles attacks on airwaves. Loid, on the other hand, wonders what names are on the list and why did they feel the need to hijack a live broadcast. He also can’t decide if he should risk his identity or wait since nobody’s life is in immediate danger. Yor is beyond angry. She calculates that with two seconds per person, it will take her about 20 seconds to kill the assailants. But she reminds herself to not get carried away since that could endanger her organisation.
The opera singer guest and director of the show are both taken into another room, and Loid starts to wonder what could happen if he slips away. If he morphs himself into the leader of the terrorists, he might get some useful information from the assailants that have taken over the broadcast room. But he promptly lets go of that idea as he thinks about how Yuri might try to kill him if his Twilight identity is revealed. Similarly, Yor thinks that if she kills these people in a few seconds, none of her excuses will work with Loid. He would likely hate her for influencing Anya with her vulgar behaviour and want to divorce her.
Sitting together, both of them think that the other is scared while both of them are actually trying to plan retribution without endangering other people or their identities. Yuri also thinks his sister is scared, and wonders if he should dash out of the door and try to lure them away from Yor. But if Yuri follows her, and the terrorists try to kill her, he will get angry and charge at them. The terrorists will shoot him down and he will die, which will make his sister sad. All three of them start to wonder how they can do this without anyone else getting caught in the crossfire.
Loid and Yuri think that they might find a way out if they go to the washroom. However, when they ask to go to the toilet, they are sent together. This means they’re not able to do anything at all. Similarly, when Yor asks to go, Yuri asks to accompany her, which means they end up doing nothing again. The three of them are stressed out about not being able to make a move. Suddenly, one of the terrorists informs An-D, the leader, that Russel and Martin have arrived. An-D asks them to check if they have any bugs planted on them and send them upstairs. But Joenna is in another country for a job, so she cannot come. Hearing the names, Loid realises that they’re the actors and actresses of the ‘Five Year Love Plan’ show, and wonders what their role might be.
One of the military officials of Ostania is annoyed with the Minister of Broadcast for sending in the people without even contacting them, and comments that it’s because his mistress is one of the hostages. He orders his men to prepare for an infiltration. But do it in a way that doesn’t endanger any civilians. More importantly, he doesn’t want to let the public know that they’re ill prepared for this. As the actors enter the broadcast room, An-D announces that they can start the meeting. When people ask what they’re planning to do, he answers that they want to re-shoot the ‘Five Year Love Plan” show right here. Everyone is shell-shocked after hearing this revelation.

Although I can sympathise with wanting to change the horrible ending of your favourite TV show, I think we can all agree that taking people hostage is going a bit too far. Since Joenna is absent, will they ask Yor to step in as the heroine? Although tense, the whole situation is entirely too funny for me to take it seriously, especially after the last reveal. It was also hilarious seeing Loid, Yor, and Yuri try to quietly achieve their goal but failing miserably. I can’t wait to see where Tatsuya Endo goes with this plot point.
