Some stunning background art visuals from the series have also been revealed.
The anime adaptation of Minoru Toyoda’s manga Kore Kaite Shine (Draw This, The Die!) has finally revealed its July 2026 release window. Although the exact debut date remains unknown, fans were treated by some amazing background art that will serve as the setting of the story.
Kore Kaite Shine anime details
The series is set to debut in July. The production team of the anime unveiled some stunning visuals of stores, landscapes, buildings etc, which will serve as the setting of the series. The anime takes place in Izu Oshima, a small island located 120 km south of Tokyo. All the background art is available to view on the anime’s official website.
The three characters that have been introduced in the new trailer are:
- Ai Yasumi – A first year high school student living in Izuōshima. She loves to read manga and after an incident, starts thinking about creating one.
- Rei Teshima – Ai’s Japanese language teacher at school.
- Pokota – Ai’s imaginary friend and a character that appears in her ‘bible manga’.
Unfortunately, no cast members have been announced as of yet. Hiroaki Akagi (The Dangers in My Heart) will direct the series at Shin-Ei Animation.
The anime is based on Minoru Toyoda’s Kore Kaite Shine manga, which won the 16th Manga Taisho award in 2023, and the 70th Shogakukan Manga Award in 2025. The manga began serialisation back in 2019 with seven volumes so far and an eighth on the way. The official website of the anime describes the story through a machine translation as:
Ai Yasumi is a first-year high school student who lives on Izuōshima, an island off the coast of Tokyo.
She loves reading manga, and after a certain incident, begins to think about "creating" manga…
