The upcoming anime adaptation of Tadatoshi Fujimaki’s action-comedy manga KILL BLUE has unveiled the voice actor behind its protagonist, Juzo Oogami.
The anime adaptation is set to premiere in 2026, although an exact broadcast date is yet to be confirmed.
Shunsuke Takeuchi takes on the role of Juuzo Ogami
The official X (formerly Twitter) account for the anime has revealed that Shunsuke Takeuchi is taking on the role of Juzo Oogami as an adult.
Shunsuke Takeuchi is known for voicing Zodyl Typhon in GACHIAKUTA, Aoi Kaguragi in Kaiju No.8, and Dr. Usami in Heavenly Delusion.
His role as Juzo Oogami is described as “looks like a middle schooler, but inside is a 39-year-old veteran assassin.”
Takeuchi also released a comment celebrating his role. Through a machine translation, it reads:
“I thought that since he has an adult’s mind and a child’s body, I would have to make deductions, but it seems that’s not the case!! I’m relieved.
I’ve often been told in the past that I look old despite my appearance, so this is a character I can relate to.
All the characters are very expressive, so I’d love to see them pop up every once in a while to keep an eye on the tempo.
KILL BLUE, look forward to it!”
Hiro Kaburagi will direct the anime at studio CUE while Miho Daidoji designs the characters. No other cast and staff members have been announced as of yet.
The KILL BLUE anime is based on the popular manga of the same name by Tadatoshi Fujimaki. Serialisation of the manga began back in April 2023 in Shueisha’s Weekly Young Jump magazine. The final chapter was published on 31 August (1 September in Japan), which coincided with the anime adaptation announcement. The manga has 10 volumes so far, with the 11th and final volume coming out on 4 September, 2025.
Viz Media releases the manga in English and describes the story as:
Juzo Ogami’s a legend. Even among hit men, his name sends shivers down spines. There’s never been a job he couldn’t handle—that is, until the day he wakes up as a teenager! But how has his body transformed? To find out, he’ll have to infiltrate the one place he thought he’d never find himself in again…school!
