Another new Gundam manga is officially on the way.
The July issue of Kadokawa’s “Gundam Ace” magazine revealed that Kōzō Ōmori will launch a new manga titled “Shien wa Minovsky no Eikyō o Ukenai”. The English title will be “Gundam: Tobacco Smoke Is Not Affected by Minovsky”.
A prologue chapter will release on 26 June in the magazine’s next issue, while full serialization begins on 26 July in the September 2026 issue.
Who is Kōzō Ōmori?
Ōmori is best known for working on multiple manga adaptations across the Gundam franchise.
Most recently, he illustrated the manga adaptation of “Mobile Suit Gundam Narrative,” which began serialization in 2018 and ended in August 2025. He also previously worked on “Mobile Suit Gundam 00,” “Mobile Suit Gundam 00 2nd.Season,” “Mobile Suit Gundam UC Bande Dessinée,” and “Mobile Suit Gundam UC Bande Dessinée Episode:0.”
What will “Gundam: Tobacco Smoke Is Not Affected by Minovsky” be about?
Unfortunately, no details regarding the manga's story has been unveiled, although the title does reference the Minovsky particles–a type of fictional, near-zero-mass subatomic particle that are foundational to the science of the franchise's original Universal Century timeline.
Given the Minovsky particles, it's highly likely that this new Gundam story will take place in the original timeline of the franchise.
