A second promotional video for the supernatural horror anime adaptation has also been released.
The upcoming horror action anime Kaya-chan Isn’t Scary (Kaya-chan wa Kowakunai) announced its premiere date of 11 January, 2026. Moreover, new voice actors have joined the anime cast. The first full-length trailer of the series has also been released.
Kaya-chan Isn’t Scary anime new cast, staff, and other details
The four new voices actors who have joined the cast are:
- Toshiyuki Morikawa as Kaya-Papa (Shizuo Satō)
- Mamiko Noto as Kaya-Mama (Mirai Satō)
- Haruka Tomatsu as Nana Ebisumori
- Yoshiko Sakakibara as Mutsu Ebisumori
Previously announced voice cast members of the anime include:
- Azusa Tachibana as Kaya-chan
- Maaya Uchida as Chie-sensei
- Yuki Kaji as Namu
- Fukushi Ochiai as Mobuo
- Azusa Tadokoro as Akira-sensei
- Shiori Izawa as Chihiro-sensei
The trailer features the opening theme song of the anime ‘Maboroshi no Yukue’ (The Phantom's Destination) performed by Isekaijoucho. As well as the ending theme song 'Playmour feat. Kaya-chan’ (Azusa Tachibana) performed by artists SAKED and TAO.
Hiroshi Ikehata directs the anime at East Fist Studio with Shigeru Murakoshi overseeing the scripts. Tarō Yamada and Hiroyuki Moriguchi design the characters, while Kohta Yamamoto and Shun Narita compose the music. Yukio Nagasaki is the sound director. Additional staff members include:

The anime is based on Taro Yuri’s manga series of the same name. Seven Seas publishes the manga in English and describes the story as:
Kaya-chan is a notorious problem child in her kindergarten, but none of the adults know her secret–till Chie-sensei is put in charge and learns of Kaya-chan’s hidden ability to see evil spirits and vanquish them with a punch! What will happen to this five-year-old who gets in trouble when she’s only trying to help?
