Ego is worried about Blue Lock’s future.
In the previous chapter of the Blue Lock manga, we saw Karasu give up on the group’s philosophy to pursue being the second best. In the recent chapter of the series, we see that his attempt along with Hiori’s is successful. As Japan celebrates their first goal against France, the team’s chemistry starts to change.

Blue Lock Chapter 336 recap
Hiori starts running past French players after Karasu passes to him. He also realises that all their attack patterns involving Isagi are dead in the water. When he tries to aim for the goal, Hiori realises that he doesn’t have a course because France’s players have been closing in on him. At that moment, he decides to pass to Karasu again and asks him to shoot.
However, Karasu doesn’t take a shot at the goal. He remembers Hiori’s talent as a striker because they were on the same junior team. He knows how hard Hiori has worked at Blue Lock and how much he has changed. Karasu has been watching him all along and knows that he can take a chance on Hiori. He passes the ball back to Hiori and orders him to shoot.
Karasu realises that this idea only came to him after he decided to bet his all on being the second best. The path to victory lies in self sacrifice. He holds back two defenders and asks Hiori to shoot the ball right at his head. When Hiori does what he asks, Karasu ducks at the last minute to create a tiny path for the ball to reach the goal. The successful attempt results in Blue Lock’s first goal in the match, making the score 1-1.
Everyone starts to celebrate as Blue Lock has finally caught up with France. However, Isagi realises that Karasu had completely given up on scoring his own goal and wonders what will happen next since it’s against everything Blue Lock stands for. Hugo approaches Isagi again and says that even if it’s not him, there’s someone smart enough on the team to take the second best place. He once again reminds Isagi that they will have a chance against France if he only accepts his fate.
However, Rin intercepts their conversation. Saying that it’s his and Isagi’s fate to devour each other while trying to be the best. Being second best is really tepid. Isagi feels confused as he can’t figure out who is right. In the stands, Anri celebrates the goal. However, Jinpachi Ego looks disturbed and comments that he didn’t hope for this chemical reaction. In the final panel, we see Isagi dazed in the field as he wonders how Blue Lock will change due to this goal.

Although my guess was right that Karasu’s evolution will bring about the goal Blue Lock desperately needed, it also brings about a change in the team’s chemistry. With one of them now looking towards controlling the field instead of scoring their own goal, the team’s philosophy might slowly start to change. However, it seems that Ego is not fond of this change as the self-sacrificing nature of being second best goes against the philosophy of playing only to score goals yourself. I foresee a change in players coming in soon to restore Blue Lock’s balance, but it might be too late.
