The creator, usagi, released a comment through the anime's official website, stating (through a machine translation):
I'm so thrilled that the manga I've been haphazardly publishing under the guise of a serialization is going to be made into an anime!
During the serialization, when I went bankrupt, my editor lent me 1 million yen out of his own pocket, and I was able to continue thanks to the support of those around me when things got tough.
Thank you so much!
At first, my goal was to make a living, but now I'm drawing manga based on a certain hope. I don't know what the future holds, but I want to finish "My Hometown is the Best!" with that hope in mind! Thank you so much to everyone who has read it even a little bit so far! I'm really looking forward to the anime!
What is Jimoto Saiko! about?
The official website describes the story as:
"My Hometown is the Best!" (by usagi, published by Saizusha), which is serialized on social media, is gaining attention for its story set in an environment that seems to be a boiling pot of all the sins in the world, despite its cute illustrations.
