A conversation with Rin causes Isagi to spiral.

After his conversation with Jinpachi Ego about the ‘God of Football’, we see Isagi and the rest of Blue Lock in a more normal mood in the recent manga chapter. The other players joke around about Isagi’s attitude on the field, but admit that they have an immense respect for him. Later, Isagi finds Rin in the bathroom, and a conversation causes him to spiral thinking about how integral he has become to Blue Lock. Their next match against France begins.

Blue Lock Chapter 329 recap

The issue begins with Julien Loki scoring a goal, and France winning their match against England with a 2-1 score. We then see the group rankings at the end of round 2, and in Group A, Japan and France both have 3 points with 1 win each, while England and Nigeria are at the bottom of the points table. We then see Kaiser scoring a goal, leading Germany to a 3-0 victory against Costa Rica. The guys in Blue Lock watch these matches, and feel excited about their own upcoming games against them.

Some of them start copying Kaiser’s mannerisms on the field. Hiori comments that in the group leagues, each team plays three matches, and the top two teams in the group advance to the next round. This means that if Japan wins their next match, they’re basically guaranteed to head to the finals. A boy comments that their next match is against France, who are super strong. Another one of them copies Isagi’s tone, and says they’ll defeat everyone in front of them.

Isagi gets flustered, as he hears them mocking how he speaks on the field. However, the other guys comment that it’s because they trust and respect him a lot. Each one of them has a tiny Isagi in their minds, giving them a mental boost during dire situations. Isagi smiles and heads to the restroom where he meets Rin. He tells Isagi to continue to be a demon lord interfering with his life until Rin defeats his brother Sae. Rin heads out, but doesn’t answer Bachira, who asks him about Isagi.

Inside the stall, Isagi starts to spiral as he finally realises the pressure of being the number one in Blue Lock. Everyone is chasing after him and leveling up, Rin and Isagi are egging each other on as rivals, and the weight of Jinpachi Ego’s dreams are also riding on Isagi’s shoulders. He realises that he can’t be satisfied and let anyone down. He wonders if top players like Kaiser, Loki, and Noa have also overcome similar burdens. In the last panel, we see Isagi enter the field as Japan’s match against France begins.

Blue Lock Chapter 329 review

Isagi feels the pressure of being the number one (Image: Kodansha/ Muneyuki Kaneshiro/ Yusuke Nomura).

It was nice to see Isagi realise the responsibilities that come with being a team’s centre. However, it seems that this was only shown to set him up for a failure in the next match. My prediction is that Isagi will lose his composure, as the pressure gets too much for him. I wish to see what the other members of Blue Lock will do if such a situation comes to pass, and if their training will uphold. Overall, it was a pretty good setup for the next exciting match in the U-20 World Cup.
