Who are the new cast members of Jaadugar: A Witch in Mongolia?
The three new voice actors joining the cast are:
- Misaki Kuno as Sorghaghtani (an intelligent principal consort of the fourth prince Tolui)
Cast comment:
Hello, I'm Misaki Kuno, the voice of Sorghaghtani.
This marks the very first time in my voice acting career that I've had the opportunity to play a character who is both a wife and a mother, and I was truly overjoyed. I had always dreamed of playing a role closer to my own age, so I am incredibly grateful to the production team for entrusting me with Sorghaghtani. Every recording session was a deeply rewarding experience. The thoughtful direction constantly offered me new insights and inspired me to grow, making each session something I genuinely looked forward to.
As Tolui's beloved wife and a devoted mother, Sorghaghtani lives with quiet grace while staying true to her core convictions. I hope you will enjoy watching how her relationship with Sitara unfolds throughout the story.
Please look forward to the anime!
- Ayaka Asai as Möge (the fourth consort of the Mongol Emperor Ögedei)
Cast comment:
Hello, I'm Ayaka Asai, the voice of Möge.
When I first read the manga, I was immediately drawn in by the contrast between Tomato Soup-sensei's gentle art style and the constant tension throughout the story.
Every character is written with such care, and each one does their best to live according to their own circumstances and beliefs. I couldn't stop turning the pages.
Möge, the character I play, is one of those people finding her own way in this world.
During recording, I did my best to capture both the unique atmosphere of the series and Möge's charm.
I hope you enjoy the anime.
Thank you for your support!
- Mayumi Shintani as Kirgistani (the third consort of the Mongol Emperor Ögedei)
Cast comment:
This is the story of the women who lived in the shadows of the history shaped by heroic men.
As I read the story, I found myself deeply moved by both the moments of gentle solidarity that brought tears to my eyes and the devastating betrayals that chilled me to the bone.
I think that's because, no matter how cleverly these women navigate politics and power, what truly drives them is something pure and deeply human: love and passion. Kirgistani may seem as though she knows exactly how to play her cards in the imperial court, but she has actually lived a very intense life.
Portraying a woman who might have lived through such an era, being swallowed by its customs while finding the strength to live resiliently, was an incredibly exciting experience.
I also had a wonderful time recording with the cast and staff!
Please look forward to the anime!

What is Jaadugar: A Witch in Mongolia about?
The anime is based on Tomato Soup’s manga A Witch’s Life in Mongol (Tenmaku no Jardougal), which began publishing in Akita Shoten’s Souffle website in September 2021. Yen Press releases the manga in English.
The website of the anime describes the story as:
A young girl and an empress.
Bound by a shared desire for revenge, the two will shake the mightiest empire the world has ever known.
After losing her mother and being torn far from her homeland, a young girl named Sitara is taken in by Fatima, a kind-hearted lady from a family of scholars.
"If you study and become wise, no matter what trouble befalls you, you'll know the best way forward."
Deeply moved by the words of Fatima's son, Muhammad, Sitara comes to understand the possibilities and importance of knowledge and begins to deepen her education.
She dreams that one day, she might catch up with Muhammad, who has set off on a journey in pursuit of wisdom... Meanwhile, under the reign of Emperor Genghis Khan, the mighty Mongol Empire continues its unstoppable march, conquering nation after nation and expanding its influence across the world. Before long, the tides of history reach the city where Sitara lives.
After losing everything to Tolui, the empire's Fourth Prince, and being taken captive, Sitara resolves to use the only thing she has left, her intellect, to infiltrate the royal court and bring down the empire from within.
Though a flame of revenge burns within her heart, Sitara outwardly devotes herself to serving the empire. One day, she has a fateful encounter with Töregene, the sixth wife of the Third Prince, Ögedei. Haunted by a tragic past of her own, Töregene too carries a deep hatred for the empire within her heart.
Sitara and Töregene, two women who were never meant to meet. The moment they join hands, the wheels of fate begin to turn.
