Another Blue Lock player might go through an awakening.

In the previous chapter of the Blue Lock manga, we saw France’s Hugo telling Isagi that he is fit to be the world’s second best, and not the best striker. In the recent issue, we see Blue Lock getting together for an attack, which is supposed to end with Isagi. But as Charles covers him, instead of passing, Isagi decides to let his ego win and score the goal. However, the ball is stopped by France’s goalkeeper, further proving Hugo’s point.

Warning: Spoilers ahead!

Blue Lock Chapter 334 recap

Blue Lock begins a signal play (Image: Kodansha/ Muneyuki Kaneshiro, Yusuke Nomura).

The chapter starts with Bachira’s corner kick as Hugo tells Isagi that if he strives to be the world’s best, Blue Lock will be annihilated. But Isagi is confident that France won’t be able to outwit Blue Lock. The French goalkeeper Renoir tells his teammates that Bachira is not going for a simple cross. Bachira kicks the ball to Hiori with a short corner as Blue Lock begins their first signal play. Renoir realises something is up and tells his teammates to cover their marks.

Loki runs towards Hiori, but before he can reach, he passes the ball to his right towards Bachira. Renoir stands in his way, stopping him from making a close-up shot. Bachira is forced to pass the ball, which seems like it’s going towards Reo. Hugo is instantly on him, telling the copycat that he won’t let him shoot. However, Reo only smiles and deflects the ball backwards. We see Isagi running towards the ball while telling Hugo that he can’t stop him with logic.

Suddenly, Isagi is bumped up by Charles. The contrarian says that whenever Blue Lock uses a pattern they don’t recognise, the French team decided to keep a close watch on Isagi, and that’s the Contrarian’s job. Isagi realises that France ruined their first signal play. Rin asks him to pass, but Isagi remembers Hugo telling him that he is only good enough to be second best. Suddenly, he is enraged and forces a kick towards the goal, saying he will always live as the number one.

Unfortunately, this shot was a mistake as Renoir easily stopped it as it followed a predictable path. Hugo again tells Isagi that without his direct shot and two-gun volley, he is a below-average striker. It’s time for Isagi to wake up and follow his destiny of being the second best. The rest of Blue Lock also starts to lose hope when they realise they can’t use Isagi. Suddenly, we see the Karasu, as the words ‘suitability’, ‘destiny’, and ‘the world’s second best’ start roaming around in his mind. It seems that the defender might be ready for an awakening.

It seems that the focus will finally shift from Isagi to Karasu in the next episode. This has been long overdue as even if Isagi continues to evolve, Blue Lock won’t be able to move forward if the other players are stuck in the same place. Facing France, who can actually see through their plays and are talented enough to counter them is great for Blue Lock as it will help the team adapt more. It would be fun to see if Karasu and the others are able to pull off a miracle.
