Live2D Creative Studio and Drive are collaborating to animate the series.
The upcoming Aniplex original anime “Inherit the Winds” has revealed two brand new cast members. The anime adaptation of Yutaka Narui’s Tachikawa Jinsuke stage play series was announced back in September 2025 during the Aniplex Online Fest. The series has unfortunately not announced its release date yet.
Inherit the Winds anime new cast, staff, and other details
The two new voice actors who have joined the anime cast are:
- Koki Uchiyama as Hijikata Toshizo
- Yuichi Nakamura as Kondo Isami
Previously announced main cast members of the anime are:
- Daisuke Sakuma as Jinsuke Tachikawa
- Yuki Kaji as Soji Okita
- Aoi Yuki as Hyougo Koganei
Tomohiro Kawamura is directing the anime at Live2d Creative Studio and Drive Inc. The original writer of the Tachikawa Jinsuke plays, Yutaka Narui, is writing the scripts for the anime as well. Fumi Ebina is the character designer while Shigeru Kishiba is the music composer.
Moreover, a four-panel manga adaptation by Matsuri Muramatsu will be released on Kodansha’s Twi4 X (formerly Twitter) account later in 2026. It will mainly focus on the daily lives of the characters.
The story of Narui’s Tachikawa Jinsuke quadrilogy takes place during the Meiji Restoration in the Bakumatsu era in Kyoto. The plot centers around an amnesiac soldier who is miraculously saved by the famous Shinsengumi member Sōji Okita. The new man is named Jinsuke Tachikawa by Okita, and starts a new life with the other Mibu soldiers during a tumultuous time.
