After almost two years, Yoshihiro Togashi’s “Hunter x Hunter” manga is set to release a new volume! The highly anticipated 39th volume of the series will ship in Japan on 3 July, 2026. The previous volume came out in September 2024.

When is Hunter x Hunter Volume 39 coming out?
As per the listing on Shueisha’s official S-MANGA website, the 39th volume of Hunter x Hunter will ship in Japan on 3 July, 2026. It will likely collect chapter 401-chapter 410 of the manga, which were released from 6 October, 2024 to 8 December, 2024. The 38th volume of the manga collected up to chapter 400 of the series. Viz Media shipped the English version of the volume on 6 January, 2026.
Why does Hunter x Hunter not have a set release schedule?
Although Hunter x Hunter started as a weekly manga in 1998, ever since 2006, the series randomly goes on extended hiatuses due to the creator Yoshihiro Togashi’s health issues. In January 2023, the manga went on a long hiatus, and the publisher Shueisha announced that after consulting with Togashi, they have decided to not follow a weekly release schedule anymore. The editorial department added that it will reveal more details about the release schedule once they have a more concrete idea.
Since then, some chapters have been released in 2023 and 2024. Unfortunately, for the last year, no new chapters of the Hunter x Hunter manga have come out. However, Togashi has teased storyboards of the upcoming chapters on his official X (formerly Twitter) account. So far, he has announced that he has completedthe manuscript until chapter 421, and character inking until chapter 430.
What is Hunter x Hunter about?
The manga series began publication in Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump magazine in March 1998. It has been adapted into two anime series, two anime movies, several OVAs, and multiple stage plays. Viz Media publishes the manga in English and describes the story as:
