Oreco Tachibana’s popular historical romance drama manga series “Firefly Wedding” is finally getting an anime adaptation! The news was announced on the newly opened official website and social media accounts of the anime. The series is set to premiere in October 2026.

Takahiro Kamei (new Urusei Yatsura anime) is directing the Firefly Wedding anime at david production (JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure). Yukiko Aikei (Your Lie in April) is designing the characters. Unfortunately, no other cast or staff members have been announced so far. A key visual of the main characters Satoko and Shinpei has been released.
The Firefly Wedding manga, created by Oreco Tachibana, began publishing on Shogakukan’s Ura Sunday manga website and MangaONE app back in January 2023. The manga entered its final arc in October 2025 and has a total of 10 volumes as of December 2025. The series was nominated for Kodansha's 48th annual Manga Awards in 2024 in the Shojo Manga category.

Afflicted with a heart condition, Meiji-era noblewoman Satoko is determined to secure a marriage that will benefit her family before she dies. But before she can realize her goal, she’s targeted by a mysterious assassin named Shinpei. In a last-ditch effort to save her life, she asks her would-be murderer to marry her. Her proposal isn’t sincere, but unfortunately for her, Shinpei loves as intensely as he kills. Can Satoko find a way to break the engagement without losing her life?
