“Hana-Kimi” anime unveils three new cast members mid-season

A brand-new key visual has also been revealed.

The shoujo romcom anime “Hana-Kimi” has unveiled three new cast members and characters. The mid-season cast reveal comes with a brand-new key visual which illustrates the growing roster of characters. Mizuki’s life deceiving a school full of boys is going to become even more chaotic and challenging! The series began airing on 4 January 2026. Crunchyroll is currently streaming the ongoing anime.

Hana-Kimi anime new cast, staff, and other details’

The three new cast members joining the anime are:

  • Masaaki Mizunaka as Megumi Tennōji
  • Junya Enoki as Itsuki Kujō
  • Takehito Koyasu as Masao Himejima

Takehito Koyasu is also reprising his role from the manga’s CD drama. 

Previously announced cast members of the anime include:

  • Kikunosuke Toya as Shuichi Nakatsu
  • Yūichirō Umehara as Minami Nanba

  • Wataru Komada as Kyogo Sekime
  • Anan Furuya as Shinji Noe
  • Kōtarō Nishiyama as Wataru Nihonbashi
  • Yūko Natsuyoshi as Julia Maxwell
  • Satoshi Hinoas Makoto Kagurazaka

Natsuki Takemura is directing the romance anime at Signal. MD with Shigeru Ueda as assistant director. Takako Yoshioka writes series composition while Su Shiyi designs the characters. Masaru Yokoyama composes the music while Jin Aketagawa serves as the sound director.

The Hana-Kimi anime is based on the late mangaka Hisaya Nakajo’s romcom manga of the same name. It was published from 1996 to 2004 in Hakusensha’s Hana to Yume magazine. The manga has a drama CD, as well as a popular live-action TV series. Viz Media publishes the manga in English and describes the story as:

Japanese-American track-and-field star Mizuki has gotten herself to transfer to a high school in Japan...but not just any school! To be close to her idol, high jumper Izumi Sano, she's going to an all-guys' high school...and disguising herself as a boy! But as fate would have it, they're more than classmates...they're roommates! Now, Mizuki must keep her secret in the classroom, the locker room, and her own bedroom. And her classmates--and the school nurse--must cope with a new transfer student who may make them question their own orientation…
