A new teaser video has been released for the upcoming season.
The first season of the long-awaited anime adaptation of the “Hana-Kimi” (Hanazakari no Kimitachi e) manga has come to an end. Right after the 12th and final episode of the series aired, it was confirmed on the show’s official website and X (formerly Twitter), that a second season is coming. The first season streams on Crunchyroll.
Hana-Kimi Season 2 details
No release window has been unveiled for the upcoming season. However, a short trailer featuring Mizuki, Izumi, Shuichi, and the other characters have been released.
The first season of the Hana-Kimi anime was directed by Natsuki Takemura at Signal MD, with Shigeru Ueda as the assistant director. Takawo Yoshioka was the series composer while Shiyi Su designed the characters. Masaru Yokoyama composed the music with Jin Aketagawa as the sound director.
The anime is based on the popular manga series by Hisaya Nakajo, who unfortunately passed away in 2023. The maanga was serialised in Hakusensha’s Hana to Yume magazine September 1996 to August 2004. Viz Media publishes the manga in English and describes the story as:
Japanese-American track-and-field star Mizuki has gotten herself to transfer to a high school in Japan...but not just any school! To be close to her idol, high jumper Izumi Sano, she's going to an all-guys' high school...and disguising herself as a boy! But as fate would have it, they're more than classmates...they're roommates! Now, Mizuki must keep her secret in the classroom, the locker room, and her own bedroom.
