It has been announced that Ayaka Katayama’s sci-fi action manga series “Fungus and Iron” (Kin to Tetsu) is getting an anime adaptation. A hauntingly beautiful key visual has been released. However, the cast, staff, and release date have not been revealed as of yet. The story takes place in a dystopian world where humanity is ruled by fungi.

The manga series began serialising in Kodansha’s Bessatsu Shōnen Magazine in March 2021. As of October 2025, it has been collected in eight volumes. Kodansha publishes the manga in English and describes the story as:
