Fuji TV has entered the webtoon business with their new partnership with LINE Manga. Fuji TV’s new webtoon label TOON8 has launched its first title Hōfuko no Assassin Doll by whomor on the LINE Manga platform on 5 June, 2026.
What is the TOON8 initiative about?
As per the press release by Fuji TV, the company is diving headfirst into the webtoon development business with TOON8. The main reason behind this is that webtoons, with their vertical scrolling and smartphone-optimised nature, have reached millions of people across the globe in the last few years. Not only that, these original stories can also be developed into full-blown IPs including anime, streaming, music, and even live events.
Fuji TV is teaming up with four industry behemoths in their respective genre: Number Nine (No. 9), whomor, LOCKER ROOM, and C-Route. With their help, the company aims to develop a number of original titles across several popular genres including action, fantasy, and romance.
The first title, produced by whomor, is Hōfuko no Assassin Doll (Assassin Doll of Revenge) launched on 5 June on the LINE Manga platform. The synopsis of the story is (machine translated):
