The main cast and staff of the anime have also been revealed.
It has been announced that the light novel and its manga adaptation, “From Overshadowed to Overpowered: Second Reincarnation of a Talentless Sage” is getting an anime makeover soon. Although the series originally came out as a light novel, the anime specifically follows the manga adaptation’s slightly different title. The series is set to premiere in July 2026, and the main cast and staff details have already been revealed.
From Overshadowed to Overpowered anime cast, staff, and other details
The main cast members of the anime are:
- Shuichiro Umeda as Ephtal
- Reo Osanai as Anastasia
- Haruka Shitaishi as Merlin
Hisashi Ishii directs the anime at EMT Squared with Deko Akao handling series composition. Hideki Furukawa is designing the characters for the isekai anime.

The From Overshadowed to Overpowered: Second Reincarnation of a Talentless Sage light novel series is written by Arata Shiraishi and illustrated by Denim Uo. It began as a web novel on the user-generated website Shōsetsuka ni Narō in 2018. Later, Kadokawa Shoten started publishing it in book format under their Kadokawa Sneaker Bunko imprint in 2019. It also has a manga adaptation by Kentarō which began publishing in Square Enix’s MangaUp! service in 2019.
Kentarō has also drawn an illustration to celebrate the news.
MangaUp! Global and Comikey publish the manga series in English. Comikey describes the story as:
Ephtal is reincarnated as a human, coming from modern Earth. In this new world where magic is real, he decides to devote the entirety of his life in the pursuit of magic. Despite his efforts, though, he discovers that he is absolutely talentless in magic, and breathed his last in anguish....But it isn't the end for him just yet! He reincarnates once again bearing the same name, Ephtal, 400 years later. Having retained his knowledge and power, he steels his resolve and once again sets his sights for the peak of magic!
