“Fist of the North Star Elegy of Ken-Oh's Army” short anime to premiere on 5 January

The comedy spin-off of the original series has also unveiled its staff.

The upcoming light anime series, Fist of the North Star: Elegy of Ken-Oh's Army, has revealed its 5 January, 2026 release date. The anime is based on the spinoff manga of the original Fist of the North Star series. The production staff working on the 5-minute short comedy series has also been announced.

In Japan, the anime will premiere on the AT-X and Tokyo-MX channels on 5 January, 2026. The cast of the series includes:

  • Hiro Shimono as Nobu
  • Shinnosuke Ogami as Zaku
  • Masaki Yano as Buzz
  • Shinya Takahashi as The Narrator

Takuma Hase and Yūma Saitō are both the technical directors and editors of the short light anime at Do-Raku. Daisuke Miura is serving as the animation director and Mirai Iwai as the art director and colour key artist.  Sayoko Itō is the compositing director of photography while Seiji Miura is composing the music.

The anime is adapted from Fist of the North Star’s spinoff manga of the same name illustrated by Hiroshi Kurao. It follows protagonist Nobu, who finds a job as a grunt in Ken-Oh’s army in the year 199X after the apocalypse. He meets new people and starts to understand how to survive in a dangerous workplace where the deaths outnumber the number of applicants.  

The original Fist of the North Star series written by Buronson and illustrated by Tetsuo Hara is also getting a remake anime adaptation in 2026.
