What is Fate/kaleid liner PRISMA ILLYA about?
As its name might suggest, Fate/kaleid liner PRISMA ILLYA is an alternate-universe manga spin-off of the Fate/stay Night visual novel by Type Moon. The manga was created by Hiroshi Hiroyama (aka KALMIA) and was serialised in Kadokawa Shoten’s Comp Ace magazine from 2007 to 2008. It’s sequel 2wei! came out in 2009 and the 3rei! sequel began releasing in 2012.
The protagonist of the series is Illyasviel von Einzbern and features some returning characters from the previous projects in the Fate/stay Night franchise.
Fate/kaleid liner PRISMA ILLYA received an anime adaptation in 2013, with the second season adapting the 2wei! sequel came out in 2014. The third season, titled Fate/kaleid liner Prisma Illya 2wei Herz! was released in 2015 and the fourth season Fate/kaleid liner Prisma Illya 3rei!! aired in 2016. In 2017, the franchise’s first anime movie Fate/kaleid liner Prisma Illya: Vow in the Snow was released, followed by Fate/kaleid liner Prisma Illya: Licht - The Nameless Girl in 2021.
