Akihito Yoshitomi’s Eat-Man manga is getting a new anime project, with Masashi Ebara returning as Bolt Crank.

Hakuhodo DY Music & Pictures has announced a new anime project based on Akihito Yoshitomi’s Eat-Man manga, titled EAT-MAN The Over Order. Alongside the announcement, the company revealed a super teaser video, teaser visual, and main staff members.

Masashi Ebara will reprise his role as protagonist Bolt Crank, having previously voiced the character in both of the manga’s earlier anime adaptations. The project is a new full anime adaptation.

A release window is yet to be revealed.

Who are the staff members behind EAT-MAN The Over Order?

Romance of Three Kingdoms director Shunji Ōga is directing the new anime at Studio Cab.

Original manga creator Akihito Yoshitomi is handling the scripts and original designs, while Satoshi Hirayama is adapting Yoshitomi’s character designs for animation.

Masashi Ebara will also return as Bolt Crank from the previous Eat-Man anime adaptations.

What is Eat-Man about?

Akihito Yoshitomi’s original Eat-Man manga was serialised from 1996 to 2002. The manga previously received two anime adaptations, with Eat-Man airing in 1997 and Eat-Man ’98 following in 1998.

Yoshitomi later launched Eat-Man The Main Dish in Kodansha’s Monthly Shonen Sirius in May 2014. The manga concluded in 2019 with six volumes. EAT-MAN The Over Order marks the latest anime project based on Yoshitomi’s long-running sci-fi manga.

The project describes the story as:

He devours metal and regenerates any weapon—Bolt Crank, an adventurer shrouded in mystery.

He speaks nothing of his past, nor does he reveal his purpose.
As he travels the world taking on jobs, a host of incidents and fateful encounters await him.

Encounters and farewells.
Lost memories.

What someone lost.
What someone sought to protect.

And the truth, slumbering somewhere in the world.

Carrying an untold story, the man continues his journey today.
