Dragon Ball is coming back with a bang with a long-awaited sequel and an 'enhanced' edition.
Dragon Ball is finally continuing its ‘Super’ storyline! Announced during the Genkidamatsuri event, which celebrated the franchise's 40th anniversary, Dragon Ball Super will be receiving a sequel anime titled “Dragon Ball Super: The Galactic Patrol”.
Additionally, an enhanced edition of the anime's first season, which aired from 2015 to 2018, will premiere sometime in Fall 2026. Titled “Dragon Ball Super: Beerus”, the enhanced edition will remaster and retell the story of Dragon Ball Super.
Lastly, the franchise will also receive a new game. “Dragon Ball: Age 1000” will feature a new character created by the late Akira Toriyama himself, and is set to launch in 2027.
Dragon Ball Super: The Galactic Patrol–what will it be about?
Acting as a direct sequel to the original Dragon Ball Super, Galactic Patrol will adapt the ‘Galactic Patrol Prisoner Arc’ (or better known as the Moro Saga) of the manga.
The arc occurs right after the Broly Saga, and will follow Goku and Vegeta as they team up with members of the Galactic Patrol to fight against a dangerous new enemy: the “Planet-eater”, Moro.
Unfortunately, besides its confirmation of production, not many details have been revealed about the sequel, including broadcast details. According to the official website, it looks like Toriyama's Bird Studio will be collaborating with Toei Animation to produce the series. It's also likely that Goku's longtime voice actress, Masako Nozawa, and Vegeta's voice actor since Z, Ryo Horikawa, will reprise their roles.
Dragon Ball Super: Beerus–what enhancements will we see?
Dragon Ball Super: Beerus, on the other hand, will feature updated and enhanced visuals, including new and revised scenes, complete reshoots, new voicework, and additional soundtracks and sound effects, as well as a restructured story.
The enhanced edition has been confirmed to be in progress for “several years”, and is touted as “the start of a new and big chapter for Dragon Ball.” The series will also air in Fall 2026 on Fuji TV.
The original version of Dragon Ball Super is currently streaming on Crunchyroll, with its story being described as:
With Majin Buu defeated, Goku has taken a completely new role as... a radish farmer?! With Earth at peace, our heroes have settled into normal lives. But they can’t get too comfortable. Far away, the powerful God of Destruction, Beerus, awakens to a prophecy revealing his demise at the hands of an even more formidable being. When his search for the Saiyan God brings him to Earth, can Goku and his friends take on their strongest foe yet?
