The integration was announced at the Crunchyroll Anime Future Forum.

Many exciting revelations were made during the Crunchyroll Anime Future Forum, which took place on 7 October. One of the announcements revealed that the popular gaming console PS5 is adding a dedicated Crunchyroll hub to its home screen in Spring 2027. The announcement was made by Sony Interactive Entertainment President and CEO Hideaki Nishino.

Why is PS5 adding a Crunchyroll hub to its homescreen?

As per Sony Interactive Entertainment, the new Crunchyroll hub is “designed to make it easier for the PlayStation community to discover and explore the anime content they enjoy.” Although Crunchyroll has been accessible to the PlayStation 5 users since 2020 through an app, adding the service to its homescreen promises to bring together anime series and movies, anime-inspired games, and other related content available on the service to the users’ fingertips.

Crunchyroll’s president, Rahul Purini, commented, “From Crunchyroll membership on PlayStation, to the upcoming Ghost of Tsushima: Legends anime series. Today, we take that partnership with Sony Interactive Entertainment one step further with an anime hub on PlayStation. Serving fans means meeting them where they already are.”

Players will now be able to fully access the Crunchyroll roster from their PS5 homescreen. The hub will be added sometime in Spring 2027, but the exact date hasn’t been revealed yet.
