Crunchyroll is partnering with Sony Pictures Entertainment again to release the movie.
Crunchyroll and Sony Pictures Entertainment will distribute director Makoto Shinkai’s next anime feature film globally. Crunchyroll has acquired global distribution rights for the movie excluding Asia, but including India.
What do we know about Makoto Shinkai’s next movie so far?
As per Crunchyroll, they will team up with Sony Pictures Entertainment to release Shinkai’s next feature film across global theatres. Unfortunately, most of Asia is excluded from this release. However, Crunchyroll will release the movie in India.
No other details about the movie’s title, cast, staff, or possible release date has been disclosed as of yet.
In November 2025, Shinkai announced that he has been working on a new movie alongside dependable companions. But he didn’t share any other details about it.
Makoto Shinkai’s previous movie Suzume (Suzume no Tojimari) premiered in November 2022 in Japan. In April 2023, it opened in North America theatres. Crunchyroll and Sony Pictures Entertainment screened the movie with English subs and dubs. The film is currently available for streaming on Crunchyroll. Suzume’s story is described as:
