The movie is proving yet again that anime has now rooted itself deeply in popular culture.
Demon Slayer’s Infinity Castle film may have broken film history, but Chainsaw Man’s feature film, “Chainsaw Man the Movie: Reze Arc” is slowly but steadily following in its footsteps. The movie has debuted at Rotten Tomatoes, arguably the most well-known review-aggregator website right now, with a perfect 100% rating as of 20 October, 2025.
The movie also boasts amazing reviews from various critics, only cementing it further as probably one of the best anime movies released in recent years.
Reze Arc steadily rises to the top
Although Chainsaw Man’s movie is up against Demon Slayer’s Infinity Castle, which to some may seem like a fruitless endeavour considering Infinity Castle has broken multitudes of records since its premiere last July, the movie has slowly but steadily established itself in various global box offices. The film has now tallied a worldwide gross of over US$70 million.
The earnings are expected to rise steadily, as the movie is premiering in North American theatres today, 24 October.
Not only that, Reze Arc has dethroned Infinity Castle in the Japanese box office to take the number one spot. The film has accumulated over JPY 6.5 billion (around US$43.1 million) in earnings, with 4.2 million tickets sold.
The movie has also enjoyed great success in South Korea, where it premiered on 24 September, and brought in about KR₩19 billion (US$13.7 million) so far.
Chainsaw Man - the Movie: Reze Arc is a continuation to the 2022 anime adaptation of Tatsuki Fujimoto’s popular dark fantasy manga, Chainsaw Man. The movie is set to cover the “Reze arc” of the story, where main character Denji, who is also Chainsaw Man, encounters a mysterious young woman named Reze. As a probable romance begins to form between the two, Denji must grapple with his conflicting feelings, his desire for Makima, and a mysterious and dangerous new devil who is deadset on blowing it all away.
