The new Chainsaw Man - the Movie: Reze Arc was released across global theaters in the latter half of the month of October. Predictably, the anime film became a massive success at the Hollywood box office this weekend. Not only did it rake in over US$17 million in earnings after its North American premiere, but it also crossed the US$ 100 million threshold globally at the same time.

Upon its release in Japan back in September, the Chainsaw Man - the Movie: Reze Arc immediately soared to the top spot in the Japanese box office. The movie was then released globally, where it performed similarly across countries. Despite its adult rating, the anime film pulled massive numbers, making it a global success.
In the last weekend, the film grossed US$17 million at the US box-office, bringing its global box-office numbers to US$108 million. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the movie also has a 96% critics’ score and 99% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes. Moreover, it boasts an A rating on CinemaScore and five out of five stars on PostTrak.
The movie is part of the Chainsaw Man anime series by MAPPA, based on Tatsuki Fujimoto’s manga series of the same name. The film adapts the Reze Arc of the manga and follows protagonist Denji, who meets a beautiful girl named Reze and starts developing feelings for her. As he struggles with his feelings for both Makima and Reze, things start blowing up across town. When it turns out that Reze isn’t what she seems, Denji is caught in an impossible crossroads.
