The author’s family made the announcement on 17 March, 2026.

It was revealed in an obituary post by the official X (formerly Twitter) account of Kodansha’s Monthly Shōnen Magazine that manga author Majuro Kaname has passed away. The author died in February 2026, but the news was only made public by the family recently. Majuro Kaname’s death comes as a shock

The post by Monthly Shōnen Magazine revealed that Kaname’s funeral was a private affair only attended by family members. The magazine was currently publishing Kaname’s ongoing work “Doku wo Kurawaba Sakura Made” (If You Eat Poison, You Might As Well Eat Cherry Blossom).

The author passed away while working on the 14th chapter of the manga. The magazine announced that as per the wishes of Kaname’s family and the manga illustrator Takahiro Oba, the editorial department will complete the manuscript up to chapter 13 and publish it. The 13th chapter is also the final chapter of the second volume, which will be published at a later date.

The post expresses deep regret and sorrow at the sudden passing of the talented manga author.

Majuro Kaname is known for writing several manga series including Can You Just Die, My Darling? (illustrated by Sousou Sasakibara), and Goddarian (illustrated by Nao Tachikawa). The manga community is deeply saddened by the sudden passing of Kaname.
