The first season of the anime will air episodes every Thursday.
In a shocking post, the official X (formerly Twitter) account of the “Beastars” anime revealed that it will begin broadcasting on Animal Planet in Japan. This is the first time an anime will stream on Animal Planet, which is primarily focused on animal documentaries.
When is Beastars arriving on Animal Planet?
As per the official Discovery Japan Animal Planet website, Season 1 Episode 1 of Beastars will first be broadcast on Thursday, 15 October, 2026. New episodes will be broadcast each Thursday.
No other reason was provided as to why the anime will stream on Animal Planet. However, being an anime about anthropomorphic animals, it’s not too surprising that Beastars will be the first of its kind to be broadcast on a channel related to animals.
All episodes of the Beastars anime are now streaming on Netflix across 131 territories in the world. The first season came out in 2019, with the second following in 2021. The third and final season was divided into two parts, with the first coming out in December 2024, and the second in March 2026.
The anime is based on Paru Itagaki’s manga, which was published in Akita Shoten's Weekly Shōnen Champion magazine from September 2016 to October 2020.
Viz Media publishes the manga volumes in English and describes the story as:
One night at Cherryton Academy, an herbivore student is brutally murdered. Among the members of the Drama Club, the herbivores’ suspicions naturally turn to their carnivore classmates… The prime suspect? Gray wolf Legoshi. But he wouldn’t hurt a fly. Or would he? Will dwarf rabbit Haru bring out the beast in him? Or are his feelings for her…something else?
