Wit Studio takes over production for the upcoming season.
The popular fantasy anime “Ascendance of a Bookworm” is coming back this year with a new season. In a new trailer, it was revealed that Season 4 will air on 4 April, 2026. Moreover, the opening theme song of the upcoming series was also featured in the preview.
As per the latest update, the upcoming season will adapt the ‘Adopted Daughter of an Archduke’ arc from Miya Kazuki’s original light novel.
Ascendance of a Bookworm Season 4 anime details
The trailer previews the opening theme song of the series ‘Pages’ by the female vocal group Little Glee Monsters. The fourth season of the show will air over two consecutive cours.
Yoshiaki Iwasaki is the new director of the next season at WIT Studio, which takes over from the anime's previous studio, Aija-do Animation Works. Mariko Kunisawa handles series composition,s while Aiko Minowa designs the characters. Michiru is returning from the previous seasons to compose the music. The anime is based on the popular light novel series written by Miya Kazuki and illustrated by You Shiina. It also has a manga adaptation by Suzuka. The first season of the anime came out in 2019. The second and third seasons followed in 2020 and 2022. Crunchyroll streams the first three seasons of the Ascendance of a Bookworm anime and describes the story as:
Avid bookworm and college student Motosu Urano ends up dying in an unforeseen accident. This came right after the news that she would finally be able to work as a librarian like she had always dreamed of. When she regained consciousness, she was reborn as Main, the daughter of a poor soldier. She was in the town of Ehrenfest, which had a harsh class system. But as long as she had books, she didn't really need anything else. However, books were scarce and belonged only to the nobles. But that doesn't stop her, so she makes a decision... “If there aren't any books, I'll just create some.”
