“Alya Sometimes Hides Her Feelings in Russian” Season 2 delayed to 2027

Previously, the second season of the popular romcom was set to be released in 2026.

The popular harem romcom anime series “Alya Sometimes Hides Her Feelings in Russian” was previously set to air its second season in 2026. But in a recent update, the production team behind the anime revealed that the premiere date has been postponed to 2027 instead. No further details about the possible release window have been revealed.

Alya Sometimes Hides Her Feelings in Russian Season 2 delay details

The official statement from the production team states:

Notice of Change in Broadcast Period 

Thank you very much for your continued support of Alya Sometimes Hides Her Feelings in Russian.

Season 2 of Alya Sometimes Hides Her Feelings in Russian was previously slated to be broadcast in 2026. However, the premiere window has been moved to 2027 to improve production quality. 

We sincerely apologize to everyone who has been looking forward to the broadcast. 

The staff will work hard to ensure that this work continues to be loved by everyone for a long time to come.

It further states that a new initiative has been planned by the production team where fans can share their ideas for the anime through a Google form into a suggestion box. The team plans to reference them in the future.

Hiroshi Haraguchi will direct the second season of the series at Doga Kobo, replacing Ryota Ito. Kim Seong-min will join as the sub-director. Yuka Yamada handles the series composition while Yuhei Murota is returning to design the characters. 

The anime is based on the popular romcom novel series written by SunSunSun and illustrated by Momoco, which has been serialised since February 2021 by Kadokawa Shōten under their Sneaker Bunko imprint. A manga adaptation by Saho Tenamachi has also been serialised on Kodansha’s Magazine Pocket app since October 2022. Crunchyroll streams the first season of the anime and describes the story as:

Alya is a transfer student enjoying popularity at her new high school, often sporting a cold shoulder while earning high marks in class. She ignores her nerdy classmate, Kuze Masachika, except for when she blurts out a flirtatious line to him in Russian. Little does she know, Kuze understands Russian, though he pretends not to. Let’s see where this wacky love story takes them!
