The novel and manga adaptations of the AI generated online isekai novel “Lackluster Skill ‘Keep It Tidy’ is the Strongest” have been cancelled.
An AI generated online isekai novel “Lackluster Skill ‘Keep It Tidy’ is the Strongest” won the Grand Prize at the 18th Fantasy Award by AlphaPolis. However, the reward for winning has been forfeited. The author of the series, Travelling Study (☆Hoshi), revealed that the awarding body made a few "late changes" to the rules, meaning that their AI generated light novel series will no longer be formally published, as well as get a manga adaptation.
Lackluster Skill ‘Keep It Tidy’ is the Strongest! won the Grand Prize and the Reader’s Choice
The web novel received the Grand Prize at the AlphaPolis 18th Fantasy Award after topping the Readers’ chart on 31 October, 2025. At the time, it was promised that the winner would have their work turned into a book and manga series.
However, AlphaPolis updated some of the competition rules involving AI on 18 November, 2025. It states that all works that are primarily created using Generative AI will be prohibited to enter contests. Moreover, any publishing application for these AI generated works will also be cancelled.
The author of the series, Travelling Study (☆Hoshi), said that due to these late changes to the rule, their AI generated light novel series was no longer be formally published, as well as get a manga adaptation. But although the book and manga adaptations have been ‘temporarily scrapped’, the author wishes to continue their work and sees it as an opportunity to work harder.
The use of Generative AI is not new in the world of novels and manga. A few days ago, an AI generated manga whose title translates to ‘My Dear Wife, Will You Be My Lover?’ also topped the ranking of Japan's largest e-book store CMOA. Since then, the title has dropped in ranks.
Despite the restrictions on the usage of generative AI in creative fields such as anime, manga, and novel creation, it seems that the power of AI only continues to grow. It will be interesting to see what these creators make in the future with the help of AI.
