The series takes place in the titular city of Antengai, which is set in a solitary island, unclaimed by any nation. Humans and ayakashi beings exist here side by side, cut off from the outside world. The lawless urban setting gives birth to some intriguing stories centering around the various residents of Antengai, as they begin to try and find out the secrets the city has been hiding from them. But will they be willing to pay the price?
Tsubonari published the first sequel manga Antengai Kisō Yakyoku in 2021 in Comic Ruelle, and the compiled volume also came out in the same year. A third sequel manga Antengai Rasen Sōki was published in Comic Ruelle from 2022 to 2023. The compiled volume shipped in May 2024.
